From humble beginnings to the thriving club we are today — the story of OCGSC.
The origins and evolution of Old Camberwell Grammarians Soccer Club.
The Old Camberwell Grammarians Soccer Club — affectionately known as "The Wellers" — was established in 1984 at Deepdene Park on Whitehorse Road in Balwyn.
Originally formulated to provide an avenue for soccer players post schooling years and locals to enjoy the world game in an enthusiastic club environment, the club maintains strong connections with Camberwell Grammar School, serving as a pathway for students to continue playing after graduation.
In its founding era, the club fielded Seniors and Reserves teams in the Amateur League before advancing to State League 4, playing tough but fair with an emphasis on enjoyment and camaraderie.
After facing significant challenges during COVID-19 and temporarily disbanding, the club was proudly revived and has since resumed operations. Today, the Wellers field Seniors and Reserves teams in the Victorian Churches Football Association (VCFA), and are launching a Women's program in 2026 — a haven for enjoyment and camaraderie where the game of soccer can be experienced and promoted.
Recognising extraordinary service and dedication to the club over many years.
